Website Accessibility

Website Accessibility Audits and Fixes

I'm Bill, a web developer in Tucson, Arizona. I review websites against the WCAG 2.1 Level AA guidelines, explain what's blocking people in plain language, and fix it, so visitors who use screen readers, keyboards, magnification or older phones can use your site like everyone else.

Who This Is For

  • Churches and ministries that want every member to be able to use their site
  • Nonprofits serving older adults or people with disabilities
  • Small businesses concerned about accessibility complaints
  • Organizations that received an accessibility complaint and need issues fixed

Problems I Solve

  • People using screen readers or a keyboard can't complete your forms or navigation
  • Low-contrast text and tiny tap targets make the site hard to read and use
  • Images, buttons and links have no text alternatives, so assistive technology can't describe them
  • You don't know where your site stands or what to fix first

What You Get

Every website accessibility project includes:

Accessibility audit

Automated scans plus manual testing with a keyboard and screen reader across your key pages and forms.

Plain-language report

Every issue explained without jargon, tied to the WCAG 2.1 criterion it fails and ranked by impact.

Fixes

I fix the issues directly: headings, labels, contrast, focus order, alt text, ARIA and keyboard support.

Keyboard and screen reader support

Skip links, visible focus indicators, accessible menus and dialogs, and announcements for dynamic content.

Mobile and motion

Touch targets large enough to tap and respect for users who prefer reduced motion.

Re-test and guidance

A follow-up check after fixes, plus guidance so new content stays accessible.

My Process

  1. Free consultation

We talk through your goals, your audience and what isn't working today. No cost and no obligation.

  2. Plan and fixed quote

You get a written scope, timeline and fixed price before any work starts, so there are no surprise costs.

  3. Design and build

I design and build the site, sharing progress as I go. Three rounds of revisions are included.

  4. Launch

I handle testing across phones, tablets and desktops, then launch and make sure search engines can find the new site.

  5. Support

30 days of post-launch support are included. After that, ongoing care is available hourly or on a monthly retainer.

Accessibility fixes from $65 per hour

After a quick review of your site, I'll quote the audit as a fixed price. Fixes are billed at $65 per hour or quoted as a fixed project, so you know the cost before work starts.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is WCAG 2.1 AA?

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) are the international standard for web accessibility. Level AA is the level most commonly used to measure whether a website is accessible, including in U.S. Department of Justice rules for state and local governments.

Will this make my website ADA compliant?

Fixing WCAG 2.1 AA issues is the most practical way to make your site accessible and reduce risk, but I'm not a lawyer and no one can guarantee legal protection. If you've received a legal demand, talk to an attorney as well.

Can't I just install an accessibility overlay plugin?

Overlay widgets don't fix the underlying code, and many screen reader users find they make sites harder to use. Real fixes in the site itself are more reliable.

How much does an accessibility audit cost?

It depends on the size of the site and how many forms and interactive features it has. After a quick review I'll give you a fixed quote for the audit. Fixes are $65 per hour or quoted as a fixed project.

Can you fix a site that someone else built?

Yes. I can audit and fix most existing sites, including WordPress and custom-built sites.

Are new websites you build accessible?

Yes. Every site I build is designed with WCAG 2.1 AA in mind from the start, which costs far less than fixing problems later.
