Custom Web Applications

Custom Web Apps Built Around How You Actually Work

I'm Bill, a full-stack developer in Tucson, Arizona. When off-the-shelf software doesn't fit, I design and build custom web applications, from client portals and booking tools to internal dashboards and full SaaS products. I've built and launched several apps of my own, so I know what it takes to get one from idea to real users.

Who This Is For

  • Small businesses outgrowing spreadsheets and disconnected tools
  • Founders who need an MVP built and launched
  • Churches and nonprofits that need a member, volunteer or client portal
  • Teams that need a custom dashboard or integration between systems

Problems I Solve

  • Work lives in spreadsheets, email threads and sticky notes, and things get missed
  • Off-the-shelf software forces you to change how you work, or charges for features you don't need
  • Your tools don't talk to each other, so the same data gets entered twice
  • You have an app idea but no technical co-founder to build it

What You Get

Every custom web app development project includes:

Discovery and scope

We map the workflow and the users first, then agree on a focused first version worth building.

Modern, maintainable code

React, Next.js and TypeScript on the front end; Node.js, PHP, Firebase, Supabase, PostgreSQL or MySQL behind it, chosen to fit the project.

Accounts and permissions

Secure sign-in and role-based access so each person sees only what they should.

Payments and integrations

Stripe payments, calendars, email, SMS and API connections to the tools you already use.

AI features where they help

Practical AI features such as drafting responses, summarizing records or routing requests, when they save real time.

Launch and support

Deployment, testing on phones and desktops, and ongoing improvements after launch.

My Process

  1. Free consultation

We talk through your goals, your audience and what isn't working today. No cost and no obligation.

  2. Plan and fixed quote

You get a written scope, timeline and fixed price before any work starts, so there are no surprise costs.

  3. Design and build

I design and build the site, sharing progress as I go. Three rounds of revisions are included.

  4. Launch

I handle testing across phones, tablets and desktops, then launch and make sure search engines can find the new site.

  5. Support

30 days of post-launch support are included. After that, ongoing care is available hourly or on a monthly retainer.

Web app projects start at $2,500

Small, focused tools can start at $2,500. Larger applications are scoped with you and quoted as a fixed price before work begins, and mobile or cross-platform apps typically run $5,000 to $15,000. Milestone payments are available.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a custom web application cost?

Small, focused tools start at $2,500. Most custom applications cost more, depending on the number of user types, integrations and features. I scope the first version with you and give you a fixed price before any work starts.

How long does it take to build a web app?

It depends on scope. A focused first version usually takes a few weeks to a couple of months. I'll give you a timeline with milestones during planning, and we'll launch a smaller first version sooner rather than wait on every feature.

What technologies do you use?

Mostly React, Next.js and TypeScript, with Node.js or PHP on the server and databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, Firebase or Supabase. I choose the stack that fits the project and that you can maintain long-term.

Do I own the code?

Yes. Once the project is paid in full, the code and the accounts it runs on belong to you.

Can you add AI features to an app?

Yes. I build with AI tools like Claude and OpenAI and add AI features where they save real time, such as drafting replies, summarizing information or routing requests.

Can you work on an app someone else started?

Often, yes. I'll review the existing code first and tell you honestly whether it's better to continue, refactor or rebuild.
